Although they have performed much of the standard guitar repertoire for two guitars, they are committed to expanding the classical guitar repertoire through new arrangements, collaborations with contemporary composers, and their own compositions. In 2006 they made their debut at the Wigmore Hall in London. They have performed together in many countries, including Russia, Austria, France, Italy, Germany, Hungary, Estonia, and the US. Gifted guitarist and composer, Phil Moorea is a multi-style player of Classical, Flamenco and Latin. Phil discovered his first guitar at the age of seven, while playing in an old Victorian house in Paddington. Areas of speciality include World Musicians. Phil’s first teacher was guitarist Phil Skinner. Since then, he has studied with many famous teachers including, classical guitar teacher, Peter Calvo at The Sydney School of Spanish Guitar, as well as tuition in jazz guitar, with Ike Isaacs, at the Australian Institute of Music.
EQUUS is a bold, imaginative music project that succeeds in an entirely new sound. EQUUS is about meetings, of people and traditions, and of musics. Areas of speciality include World Musicians. A gathering of four musicians of diverse musical and cultural backgrounds, Equus focuses on the traditional music of Mongolia. Sung by world renowned Mongolian throat singer Bukhu, fused with Middle Eastern strings and wind with a dynamic rhythm section.
