LILY DIOR: Traveling the globe from the tender age of three weeks, Lily’s life has been filled with music and exotic locations. Lily’s voice has been described as “deep, full, heart-stopping and sultry.” (Bruce Elder, Sydney Morning Herald). Of her performance, Jim McLeod wrote: “She can belt out a song, dramatize a lyric, swing hard and earthy, flirt, sing a tender song – Lily can tell a story’.”
In August 2000, Lily travelled to New York on an Australia Council Study Grant for three months to partake in workshops and private lessons with the great Mark Murphy and was invited up to perform at one of his rare New York appearances. That same year she was singled out by legendary arranger/pianist Dave Matthews’ to perform with his band The Manhattan Jazz Quintet at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre.

Over the last few years Lily has been building a considerable reputation overseas with performances in New Zealand, London, Japan and Shanghai and has just released her new CD ‘Clear Day’ on Jazzgroove Records.

JEREMY SAWKINS: 1979 saw Jeremy premiere his talents, performing with “Phoenix Five” featuring saxophonist Dale Barlow and expatriate Australian guitarist Peter O’Mara.
During his career, Jeremy has had the opportunity to work with many other fine musicians including Bernie McGann, Paul McNamara, Jackie Orzaczky, Tony Buck, Don Burrows, Phil Wilson (USA), Indra Lesmana (Indonesia), Phil Slater, Matt McMahon, Jim Kelly, Paul Cutlan and many more. He has also played in many other groups over the years covering a wide variety of musical styles including ‘The Zips’; ‘What is Hip’; Monica Trapaga’s Continental Deli and Brazilian Spectacular; Chris Cody’s Coalition; Grace Knight’s Big Band and Frank Bennett’s Big Band.

SEAN MACKENZIE: Sean has played & recorded with the likes of Don Burrows, “Dragon” & the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra; Epizo Bangoura & Afro Moses from West Africa; Paul Jackson, Tommy Campbell & Jeff Andrews (USA); Waldo Fabian from Chile; “Lava” & “Yamatake Carnival” project from Japan; Kiko Freitis from Brazil. Sean has composed & produced music for “Nikatsu Film Studios” (Japan) & for his own projects including his albums: “Talking to Myselves” & “Off 2 C The Planet”.
In Holland Sean assisted in workshops at the Enschede Conservatorium of Music with master percussionist Nippy Noya & worked with students on performing projects; in Brazil Sean was invited to teach at “Curso internacional de verão” at “Escola da Música” in Brasília.

CHRISTOPHER SOULOS: Bassist, DJ. Founding member of Espirito, Sydney’s premier latin jazz group and a mainstay of the Basement, opened for Dizzy Gillespie and Al Jarreau. Christopher has played bass for Jermaine Jackson, Marcia Hines, Erana Clark, Mark Hunter, Penny Pavlakis, Mark Williams, The Prophets, Daryl Braithwaite, Al Martino, Peter Cupples, The Platters, The Nolans, and Andrew Oh.

Winner of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s Young Composer of the Year award in 1990, Matt graduated from the Canberra School of Music in 1994 with a graduate diploma in Jazz Studies. Since moving to Sydney in 1998 he has established himself as a leading Australian drum/percussion educator, teaching at several Sydney private schools and his home studio. In 2005 he authored and published The Contemporary Drumming Course and in 2007 produced the iNome, a metronome for iPod. From 2004-2008 Matt was co-musical director, arranger and band member of EMI recording artists Tenor Australis, performing regularly in concert venues throughout Sydney, NSW and Victoria. Since the 1990s Matt has performed around Australia and New Zealand with many rock and jazz groups.
