Born and raised in Sydney to a French Mother and a true blue Aussie Father, Justine Schofield has always had a passion for cooking. With her Mother being as French as they come, Justine was lucky enough to be brought up in a bilingual household and speaks French as if she were a native.

“My fascination with the food, and the French way of life draws me back every time, it’s amazing how the food and culture change each time you arrive in a different region. I am equally proud of my French heritage as I am of my Australian and when the opportunity arises I would like to live in France for a while to discover every little corner I can!”

Justine completed a diploma in hotel management but decided it wasn’t what she truly wanted to do, so she decided to pursue her two greatest passions – food and travel. Her pursuit entailed a trip each year to some new, distant or exotic location, where she could immerse herself in the heritage and lifestyle, and learn about the native cuisine. Amongst these travels were regular visits to France where she further discovered her heritage.

In 2009, Justine had the opportunity to apply to be a contestant in the first-ever series of Masterchef on Channel Ten, and she grabbed it with both hands. She made it through the demanding audition process and took her place in the Top 20. She then went on to blow the judges away week after week with her cooking prowess and cool, calm and collected approach to the challenges. They were amazed at the extent of her knowledge for someone so young.

Justine had some amazing experiences throughout her Masterchef journey, with one of her most memorable highlights being the opportunity to cook for one her icons, French chef Jacques Reymond. She also immensely enjoyed the chance to go head to head against well known Celebrity Chef Matt Moran in a cook-off. Out of more than 7000 applicants, Justine made it through to the Top 4 contestants in the vastly popular series, which reached over 3 million viewers per night, resulting in her fair share of fans!

Since her time ended in the Masterchef kitchen, Justine has been busy catering for private functions and doing personal appearances throughout Australia. She is also a regular on Channel Nine’s A Current Affair where she is a regular food commentator.

In 2011 Justine launched her very own cooking TV series which inspires viewers to make the most out of their kitchen with simple, through to more sophisticated recipes. Her program Everyday Gourmet airs on Network Ten on weekdays at 4pm, and showcases Justine’s bubbly personality and ability in cooking that Australia has grown to love.
